As
is the case in much of Mexico, the Catholic church is the only religion
mentioning Jesus that most native people ever hear from. The Huichol
people mix Catholicism, Animism, and their own ancestral religious form
of shamanism, which includes communication with the dead and spirit
world.

All of this, plus the ritual use of Peyote, makes for a
confusing, spiritually dangerous, idolatrous, occult filled religion
that offers no hope of salvation through the Son of God.
The
Huichol's religion promotes a false hope (if
any) through confessions to man, manipulation through fear, use of magic,
hallucinogenics, and superstition, all of which is
dependant on ignorance of God's Holy Word.
Shaman Guadalupe de la Cruz, shown left, was an elderly shaman. She
loved her people dearly and devoted her life to the care of their medicinal
and spiritual needs. Yet, in all of her kindness toward her people, she died without knowing
and
receiving the blessed hope of eternal salvation through Jesus.
